Divide the students into two or three teams. The teams will need a pencil and paper.
Each team select a colour for their balls and place targets as shown below.
Each team then collects nine balls numbered 1-9. These should be the opposite colour to their target balls.
The teams form rows behind a line at a suitable distance from the targets. Decide if the balls are to be thrown or rolled to hit the targets.
Students then take it in turns to knock one of their targets off the cones. If they hit the target, they should run and get the ball they threw and the one they hit and then multiply the two numbers together. The whole team can help out with the multiplication. First team to hit all targets wins (or the highest sum when the teacher blows the whistle).
