Towards the end of 2013, we sent Aball1 equipment and resources, plus books and stationery, to Planting Promise in Sierra Leone – half gifted by the wonderful pupils and staff at St Edward’s RC School in Newham and half gifted by us, at Aball1.
Planting Promise (www.plantingpromise.com) are a really impressive enterprise; they have established 7 successful, ethical farms which they use to generate income to operate 5 schools providing free education and training to children and young adults in Sierra Leone.
We just received these pictures and feedback from a teacher at one of the schools and wanted to share them with you…
«The pupils absolutely love it. It is really special seeing them work together as a team. Many of them had never been placed in a role of authority before playing the Memory Game. They called themselves ‘Team Captains’ and helped their team to recall the numbers and letters without revealing the answer. It was great to see! The answers that they came up with when I asked them which careers involve Memory were extremely encouraging. They all have such high aspirations which is fantastic. Their answers included Doctors, Lawyers, Bankers, Teachers etc. My favourite one was «a Pilot because they have to remember the way to go in the sky».
Aball1 is perfect for these children. They are so eager to learn it’s lovely. Some fun variety to their learning seems to really pay off!».
We firmly believe that every child has the right to an education. Whether they are in England, Norway, Sierra Leone, or anywhere else in the world – and any way that we can support this, we will. #educationforall
