Primary school PE and sport funding

Aball1 ball 2The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013 to 2014 and 2014 to 2015 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – will be allocated to Primary School Head Teachers.

This funding is ring-fenced and can therefore only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools.

Purpose of funding:

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Aball1 is a possible use for this funding.

  • It will help support and engage even the least active children through fun games and competitions
  • We can come to your school and run Aball1 sessions, providing cover to release primary teachers – PPA
  • On top of physical exercise, Aball1 sessions can be used to improve numeracy, literacy… and has even been used to teach and revise other subjects too. Why not make English or Maths lessons more physically active?

Aball1; for physical activity, social inclusion and academic learning.
